A new social media platform for surgeons, set to transform patient care by linking medical professionals worldwide, is launching in the UK today.
The innovative app, which has already made waves in the United States with over 17,000 doctors on board, aims to have a similar impact within the NHS as NHS-affiliated healthcare professionals can register and use the app’s features.
Dubbed “Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube all rolled into one,” SurgeOn presents a unique digital space where surgeons can engage, share expertise, ask questions, and get insights from other professionals across the world.
According to its creators, including Dr. Jeremy Heffner, Dr. Mark Soliman and Dr. Mario Lebya – all surgeons – this platform fills a much-needed gap in the medical field, cultivating stronger connections, reducing isolation and easing the burden of stress amongst surgeons.
Dr. Soliman commented, “SurgeOn provides a safe, judgment-free space where surgeons can connect globally, fostering an open and welcoming environment,” adding that “It encourages everyone, especially junior team members, to ask questions and seek guidance without fear of being misunderstood or judged.”

Alongside its ability to connect doctors globally, SurgeOn hopes its features can help free up time for an already overstretched NHS, particularly through it’s video tutorial and Scribe features.
Its video tutorials offers on-demand for those who can’t always spare time for training or workshops. And its Scribe feature is designed to automate tedious documentation tasks such as transcribing notes during consultations, giving healthcare professionals more time to dedicate to patient care.
The app’s user-friendly interface, similar to those found on well-known social media platforms, enforces strict identity checks to protect both medical practitioners and patients.Users must pass a rigorous, multi-step verification process to ensure the community is restricted to professionals. This process includes submitting professional identification such as a hospital/employment badge with credentials, a medical license or certificate, proof of employment as a healthcare provider or enrolment in medical training.
Each document is then thoroughly examined to safeguard the platform’s integrity. “Verification ensures our community of surgeons maintains the highest standards of professionalism and trust, creating a secure space for collaboration and discussion, advancing the field of surgery worldwide,” Dr Soliman said.
